Terms and Conditions

The competition is open to all Ashford Borough residents aged 16 years and under on the date of entry on 22 September 2008, excluding employees and their immediate families of Ashford Borough Council and Halfords. All entrants must read and accept the rules of the contest and these Terms and Conditions. This is confirmed by checking the box on the application form.

All entries require Parental / Legal Guardian Consent. If you are notified as winner you must complete a Parental/Legal Guardian Consent Form and acceptance of the rules of the Contest and these Terms and Conditions and return to Ashford Borough Council within 5 days. Ashford Borough Council reserves the right to confirm that such authorisation has been given, and to disqualify any contestant under 16 who fails to provide such authorisation. Entries must be submitted by 11.59:59pm (GMT) on 5 October 2008. By entering the Contest, each contestant agrees and acknowledges that Ashford Borough Council is permitted to receive his/her registration data.

Entries will be judged week commencing 6 October 2008. A prize of a bike and an opportunity to attend the Sporting Heroes Evening celebration on 15 October 2008 with a parent/guardian will be awarded to the winner.
Entries must be original and your own work.
Entries containing any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content will not be tolerated.
The entrant must submit a form confirming his/her parent’s consent to participate in the Contest.
If there is sufficient evidence to suggest malpractice and manipulation of the rating process then Ashford Borough Council has the right to remove the relevant entry or entries and, if necessary, award the prize to a different contestant. The panel’s decisions is final.

2. If Ashford Borough Council does not receive a valid signed Parental/Legal Guardian consent form for any winner under 16 within 7 clear days of the contestant being declared a winner for a particular day (excluding the day on which such declaration is made by Ashford Borough Council) Ashford Borough Council will be entitled to select an alternative winner from among the contestants.

3. Ashford Borough Council assumes no responsibility for any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, and Ashford Borough Council assumes no responsibility for technical, hardware or software failure of any kind, for lost network connections, garbled computer transmissions, other problems or technical malfunctions with regard to the Contest. If for any reason, programs are not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, and unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Ashford Borough Council which corrupt or affect administration, security, fairness, integrity, or discretion, Ashford Borough Council reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Ashford Borough Council assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, corruption, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alteration of entries. Ashford Borough Council is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail addressed to Ashford Borough Council on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the internet or any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to the contestant’s or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Contest. If for any reason a contestant’s entry cannot be viewed or is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failures, Ashford Borough Council assumes no responsibility.

4. In no event will Ashford Borough Council, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and related companies, its advertising or promotion agencies, or its officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives or agents be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising out of any contestant’s access to and use of the Website. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, everything on the Website is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose or use or non-infringement.

5. The Winner will be notified by email, and prizes will be sent out after the final entry to the Contest is submitted. The prize will not be redeemed in cash, and is not transferable, at the request of a prize-winner.
