Vicky Silk, Great Britain athlete and potential medal winner at the London 2012 Paralympics, has become the latest star to become a sporting ambassador for Active Ashford, the Borough’s Sports Partnership Network.
Ashford Borough Council hosted a special ceremony to honour sporting heroes from the borough, including Commonwealth Champion, Lisa Dobriskey, and Olympic gold medal winner, Jamie Staff.
Around 200 specially invited guests were at the International Hotel in Ashford on Wednesday 15 October to help celebrate the achievements of athletes and sports stars.
Mayor of Ashford Cllr John Link joined Nick Boylan, Great Britain Swimming Captain for people with learning disabilities, at the Civic Centre on Sunday 24th August, 2008, to help raise the Olympic Handover Flag, marking the moment that London became the official Host City for the Olympic Games.
Around 60 skateboarders and BMX riders attended the Active Ashford Urban Sports Collective Event at Ashford Skate Park recently.
There was a crowd of about 200 people, a mixture of young people and families, who came to admire the stunts and tricks on display.
